We arrived at the airport to find out we had a 5.5 hr delay as our plane had a technical fault! So instead of leaving at 21:15 we'd be leaving at 02:45!! As it neared 23:00 we were all gathered up and told our replacement plane had also been grounded. So onto a coach we got again and we're now staying overnight at the 4 star Gran Canaria Princess Hotel. We have to be in reception tomorrow at 10:00 to see if we're coming home anytime soon! Who needs volcanic ash ;-)
Nice room and Barry made a friend...
Interesting dress code for breakfast, particularly as we haven't even got our cases and I'm in shorts!
Today we went down to the Faro Lighthouse for lunch. It's been a solid 28 degrees all week and was nice to have some cooler sea breeze! We had a very nice freshly grilled chicken baguette right by the sea. Barry also found his perfect bottle of wine!
Today we mostly roasted in the sun again, but when it cooled off around 7pm we headed down to the Dunes to have a look at the sand blown over from the Sahara Desert. After that we walked back to the Yumbo centre for a quick round of Mimi golf followed by dinner and a few drinkies.
When we first arrived, we were a bit dubious, as we were greeted with a prison like entrance complete with barbed wire. However once we were inside things were completely different. We had our own little bungalow, 26 out of 30, a nice little kitchen/lounge and bedroom layout. Supermarket just across the road. Nice pool with loads of room and chairs.
So much for the cloudy weather reports. Today was clear blue skies and roasting hot! The apartment is small but cool now we have the air conditioning working. There are a few house guests with more legs than you would like, yes Los Cocharaches! A visit to Spar and a can of spray sorted them out! Today we generally lazed by the pool and headed to the Yumbo for Chinese buffet.
Today we were delayed on the plane, due to a late arrival, which wasn't too bad by itself, although we were flying economy and there was no champagne on board! However we were also delayed a further 1.5 hours by a bouncer and his mrs in her chavvy shell suit, who decided he didn't like his seats. Bouncer bob had paid for extra leg room and to sit together, only to discover when they got on the plane that they were no longer sat together!! "ARE YOU in the right seat?" he barked at us and the old couple sat over from us! He the proceeded to huff and puff at anyone who wouldn't listen, only to huff and puff a bit too much at the head stewardess. This was a bad mistake as she had the police escort him from the plane!! We had offered to move seats, which the stewardess appreciated and offered us free drinks, but it was too late for bouncer bob and his mrs. We still enjoyed the free drinks though ;-)
