Chronicle Movie Review

Chronicle is your typical story of three high school friends, one jock, one brain and one nerd, but they find a crashed alien artifact that gives them all telekinetic powers. At first off they start out with harmless pranks, but their powers improve the more they use them. The say power corrupts, and the nerd goes a bit off the rails to say the least! Slow burning, but good story. Lo-fi wobbly cam budget (but not too wobbly), with decent special effects. Probably best saved for a DVD night in.

Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance 3D Film Review

Nic Cage is back on the bike and back on fire! This time you see Ghost Rider going after the Devil's son, so that he can have the rider curse removed. The boy starts out under protection in a monastery, but soon a chase starts all over the place. Whereas the first Ghost Rider film had several baddies all possessing elemental powers, which gave the film more scope, the second film only has the Devil, who doesn't do much, and someone who has the power to rot things. There are a few big scenes with flying flaming chains of death, and a ridiculous over the the top flaming digging machine, but not al ot more, they just plod around a lot after the kid. The special effects are better than the first film, especially the skull, which is much more realistic. The 3D is passable, with a few things flying out at you, but again could have been more. The 12A certificate is very lenient, with the rotting power being particularly gross and people being chain flamed in half, not something for the younger crowd really! On the whole more of the same Ghost Rider, but less action than the first.

The Muppets Movie Review

The Muppets are back! Two brothers, one has an addiction to The Muppets, so they set off to LA to see Muppet Studios (which does actual exist!) for a grand tour, only to find its going to be snatched up and closed by an evil oil baron. Its then up to them to regroup the Muppets and put on one final show to try and save Muppet Studios! Theres silly slapstick, there are a few songs, theres an underused Amy Adams, its the Muppets as you sort of remember them from your childhood. It could have been better, but kids will probably love it.

Snowy weekend at Mark and Carol's

Went to get the kids Christmas pressies on Saturday and watch Puss in Boots, while Carol was out refereeing a netball game. We were due to go out for dinner, but then we had a load of snow and Elliot was poorly, so we had a quiet night in with dinner and a movie. Sunday morning called for a giant snowman to be built!
