Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a much darker film than the first. There are rumblings of revolution as the people living in the districts look to Katniss to set them free. The increasingly jealous president sees this and threatens her if she doesn't back down, read the preset PR scripts and play ball. She doesn't, so the president holds a special 75th games, where winners from each district fight again, knowing full well that Katniss is the only female winner from District 12 and will automatically be re-entered. The film from then on in is pretty much the same as the first, but with a different more aggressive arena. The actors are a bit older and bit wiser and this film plays out much better, both acted and story wise. It ends with a nice cliff hanger setup for the third film.
